이시 작가는 국내외 다양한 전시에서 주목을 받아왔으며, 2017 한국구상조각대전 대상과 2018 단원미술제 단원미술상의 수상경력을 보유하고 있다.

인간의 존엄과 내면의 꿈을 주제로 사진 한 장 속 화려하게 꾸며진 흑인 소년의 이미지에서 출발한 그의 작업은, 입양을 기다리는 아이들의 복잡한 현실과 그 안의 희망을 주의 깊게 조명한다. 치장의 겉모습보다 인물 안에 깃든 자존감과 개성, 꿈에 집중하며 아이들을 당당하고 아름다운 존재로 표현하며 작품 속 인물들은 누군가의 선택을 기다리는 대상이 아니라 스스로 빛을 발하는 주체로 등장한다.

삶의 단면 속에서 포착한 순간의 품위와 그 안에 깃든 인간적인 이야기들을 조형 언어로 풀어내며, 동시대를 살아가는 사람들과 따뜻한 시선을 나누고자 한다. 이시의 조각은 말하지 않아도 말이 되는, 한 사람의 삶을 담은 형상인 것이다.



Leesi has gained recognition through numerous exhibitions both in Korea and abroad, and has been awarded the Grand Prize at the 2017 Korea Figurative Sculpture Exhibition and the Danwon Art Prize at the 2018 Danwon Art Festival.

His work, rooted in the themes of human dignity and inner dreams, began with the image of a Black boy, elaborately dressed in a single photograph. From there, Leesi developed a thoughtful body of work that sheds light on the complex realities and quiet hopes of children waiting to be adopted.

Rather than focusing on their outward appearance, Leesi’s work highlights the children’s self-worth, individuality, and aspirations—portraying them not as passive figures awaiting selection, but as luminous subjects in their own right.

His sculptures capture the quiet dignity of fleeting moments drawn from life, expressing deeply human stories through a sculptural language.

With warmth and attention, he seeks to share these glimpses with others who live this contemporary moment alongside him. Leesi’s sculptures speak without words—embodying a person’s life in form, with presence that needs no explanation.
