이영수
나는 ‘꼬마 영수’라는 평범한 이름을 가진 회화적 아이콘을 통해 한국인의 일상적 모습을 동화적이고 만화적인 조형언어로 그려냄으로써 시대의 미감美感과 풍경을 담아내려 하고 있다.
어린 시절 자연과 함께한 기억들을 그려내던 예전의 작업들과 최근의 일상적인 모습 역시 평범한 한국인의 초상을 그려내고 있는 것이다.
작품이 점묘로 표현되는 것은 그것이 가진 풍경의 불확실성을 표현하기에 날카롭고 명확한 이미지 보다 나의 미감美感을 표현하기에 적합하기 때문이다.
I seek to capture the aesthetic sensibility and landscape of the time by depicting the everyday life of Koreans through a pictorial icon with the ordinary name “Little Youngsu,” using a fairy tale like and cartoon like formal language.
My earlier works that depicted memories of being with nature in childhood, and my recent depictions of everyday scenes as well, are also portraying portraits of ordinary Koreans.
That the works are expressed in pointillism is because, rather than sharp and clear images, it is more suitable for expressing my aesthetic sensibility, in order to express the uncertainty of the landscape it contains.
