만욱
나는 인간-비인간종의 관계에 대한 작업을 잇는다.
내 작업 속의 존재들은 [개:]로 발화되는 [개- 걔- 계]로
표현되고, 그들은 다 다르다.
그 다름은 차별이 아닌 차이이며, 나란한 공존의 터전에 비인간종을 초대하기 위해 인간은 그들의 눈으로 세상을 볼 수 있어야 한다.
난 폐쇄회로(cctv)를 내 삶의 기록체계로 함께 하며 작품 속에는 이런 반려기계들이 개와 함께 한다.
그들은 따뜻하고 열린 기계로 존재하고, 나는 개, 계의 언어로 소통하기 위한 인간으로 재탄생했다.
새로운 세상 속 나는 젠더 없는 인간이며 그들과의 네트워크에 나란하게 서있는 ‘그냥’으로 존재한다.
I continue my work on the relationship between human and non-human species.
The beings in my work are uttered as [gae:], and expressed through [gae–gyae–gye], each of them different.
Their difference is not one of discrimination but of distinction, and in order to invite non-human species into a shared ground of coexistence, humans must learn to see the world through their eyes.
I accompany closed-circuit television (CCTV) as a system for documenting my life, and within my works, such companion machines appear alongside dogs.
They exist as warm and open machines, and I am reborn as a human who communicates in the language of gae and gye.
In this new world, I am a genderless human, existing simply as “just” — one who stands side by side within the network of connection with them.
