사회적인 도구인 언어는 순수한 자아와는 상반된 개념이라고 생각한다. 그림 속에 명확한 스토리나 메시지를 담지 않고 어떤 틀에도 얽매이지 않는 것은 작품 활동에 대한 나만의 접근 방식이라 할 수 있다. 순간의 감각을 가장 중요하게 생각하며, 작품으로부터 주관적이고 강한 매력을 느낄 때 작품 활동을 마친다. 따라서 나에게 영감이란 특정된 어떠한 것에서 나오는 것이 아닌 나의 삶 자체가 영감의 원천이라고 생각한다.

나에게 있어 창조란, 스스로가 창조의 주체적 인물이 아닌 단순히 무언가를 발견해 내는 행위로 여기고 있다. 창조의 주체는 알 수 없는 존재, 혹은 신적인 존재가 아닐까 하는 의문이 들기도 한다. 작품 활동은 곧 종교적인 경험과 유사하면서도 철학자들이 철학을 바라보는 시선과 굉장히 유사할 것이라고 느끼기도 한다. 이는 나 자신을 순수하게 바라보는 행위로 해석될 수 있다.
나 자신을 순수하게 바라보는 만큼 감상자들 또한 내 생각의 틀에 가두는 것을 추구하지 않기에 작품명에 깊은 뜻을 부여하지 않는 방식을 선택했다.
초반에는 작품의 제목을 단순하면서 기억하기 쉽도록 작품이 완성된 요일로 기록해 왔지만, 흐르는 시간 보다 머물러 있는 공간에 대한 감각적인 에너지를 크게 느끼게 되었다. 그 이후로 작품 활동을 했던 지역의 이름을 작품명으로 정하게 되었다. 이렇게 순간적으로 느껴지는 감각을 발견하고 직관적으로 표현 활동을 했던 공간, 즉 지역을 기록하는 방식으로 2018년부터 꾸준하게 작품 활동을 이어 나가고 있다.



Language, as a social tool, stands in contrast to the pure self. I believe that deliberately avoiding clear stories or messages in my paintings—refusing to be confined by any frame—is a personal approach to my art-making. I value the sensation of the moment above all else, and I conclude my work when I feel a subjective and powerful pull from it. Therefore, inspiration for me does not arise from any singular source; rather, my life itself is the source of all inspiration.

To me, creation is not an act of authorship but an act of discovery. Sometimes I wonder if the true subject of creation is not myself, but an unknown or divine being. Artistic practice begins to resemble a religious experience, and perhaps it closely mirrors the way philosophers gaze upon their own philosophy. It becomes an act of seeing oneself with purity.

And just as I try to regard myself purely, I do not seek to confine viewers within the boundaries of my thoughts. That is why I choose not to attach heavy meanings to my titles. In the beginning, I named my works simply and memorably, by the weekday on which they were completed. Over time, however, I began to feel a deeper energetic pull not from the passage of time but from the stillness of place.

Thus, I began titling my works after the regions where they were created. This way of documenting intuitively the spaces in which I felt and worked—capturing the fleeting sensations of the moment—has guided my practice steadily since 2018.
